The ninth collected volume of Makoto Sanda and Isuo Tsukumo’s spinoff manga, “The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Wizard’s Blue,” a companion to Kore Yamazaki’s original work, has confirmed its conclusion with the upcoming tenth volume slated for release next March. The eighth volume, released in April, had hinted at the manga’s approaching climax.
Seven Seas holds the manga’s licensing rights and presents the story of a young orphan named Blue, who embarks on a magical journey under the guidance of the skilled magus Gisele in the enchanting backdrop of Paris. For those intrigued by a gender-swapped perspective of “The Ancient Magus’ Bride,” this exquisitely illustrated manga delivers a fresh sense of wonder.
Sanda and Tsukumo commenced the manga’s serialization on the Manga Doa app in April 2019, with oversight from Yamazaki herself.
Yamazaki initially launched the core manga of “The Ancient Magus’ Bride” within the pages of Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade magazine in 2013. Following the magazine’s discontinuation in September 2014, the manga found a new home in Monthly Comic Garden, where it continues to unfold. The series boasts a circulation of over 10 million copies.
In addition to publishing the main manga in English, Seven Seas Entertainment is also rolling out various spinoff manga and supplementary materials within the franchise.
The animated adaptations of the original series include “The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Those Awaiting a Star” OVA in 2017, the first television anime season in 2017, the three-episode “The Ancient Magus’ Bride – The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm” OAD from 2021 to 2022, and the second television anime season, which premiered on April 6 and recently debuted its second half on October 5.
