The television anime adaptation of Square Enix and Platinum Games’ action role-playing game, NieR:Automata, titled Ver 1.1a, released a new trailer following episodes 9 to 12 on Sunday.

Excitingly, the trailer confirmed the green light for a second cours (quarter of the year) of the anime.

The anime originally premiered on January 7 but experienced delays due to the impact of COVID-19 on its production schedule. Episode 4 was pushed back from January 28 to February 18, while episodes 9 and beyond faced delays in March. Despite the challenges, the dedicated staff persevered to bring this gripping tale to life.
NieR:Automata’s story revolves around androids 2B, 9S, and A2, as they courageously battle to reclaim the Earth, which has been overrun by powerful machines from another world.

These android soldiers, part of the human resistance, embark on a mission to defeat the mechanical invaders and uncover a long-forgotten truth about the world.
The anime is masterfully directed by Ryouji Masuyama (known for Blend S and Hello WeGo!), with series composition jointly handled by Masuyama and the original game’s creator, Yokō Tarō. The character designs are brought to life by the talented Jun Nakai, who also serves as the chief animation director. Adding to the captivating experience, the music is skillfully composed by MONACA.
