Before the anime’s creation, Eiji Umehara and Tappei Nagatsuki crafted the “Vivy Prototype” novels, serving as the conceptual foundation.

Despite the novels only hitting the commercial market after the anime began airing, the show’s creators explicitly refer to it as a direct adaptation. Illustrations for the novels were beautifully crafted by loundraw, the original character designer of the anime.
Under its Airship imprint, Seven Seas Entertainment secured the licensing rights for the Vivy Prototype novels. The novels intricately depict a world where Vivy, the pioneer autonomous AI, captivates audiences with her songs at NiaLand, Japan’s prominent theme park.
As AIs have seamlessly integrated into human life, performing their designated tasks, a startling revelation from a future AI foretells a grim fate: these advanced AIs will ultimately turn against humanity, triggering a cataclysmic war. To avert this crisis, Vivy makes the monumental decision to forsake her stage life and embark on a century-spanning mission to save humanity.
