The majority of titles within the Metal Gear series center around the compelling journey of Solid Snake, a skilled special forces operative who gradually becomes entangled in a complex global conspiracy.

The inaugural game, released in 1987 for the MSX2 and NES platforms, follows Snake’s mission to thwart a dangerous nuclear launch platform named Metal Gear, developed by the renegade state known as Outer Heaven.
