This comes just days after Crunchyroll declared a promotional partnership with Bollywood sensation Tiger Shroff, marking a significant step in its expansion into the Indian market.

In other news, Crunchyroll is preparing to host its inaugural special screening in India. The event will take place on July 20 at 5:30 p.m. IST at the prestigious Maison PVR, Jio World Drive Mumbai. Crunchyroll Hosts First-Ever Special Screening in India in Collaboration with Comic Con India

Crunchyroll has been gradually embedding its presence in India. On November 2, the company launched its first-ever collection of Hindi and Indian English dubs. This was paired with the introduction of subscription tiers tailored for Indian audiences. The list of Hindi Dubbed anime on Crunchyroll is increase day by day.

Crunchyroll started streaming a selection of its anime titles in India on March 1, 2022. Concurrently, Crunchyroll and Funimation made an announcement that the anime library and simulcast content of Funimation and Wakanim were moving under the Crunchyroll umbrella. In a significant leadership change, Crunchyroll appointed Rahul Purini as CEO in April 2022, following his successful stint as COO of Funimation.

The company’s expansion in India aligns with its global growth plans. In August 2021, Sony’s Funimation Global Group finalized its acquisition of Crunchyroll from AT&T for a hefty sum of US$1.175 billion, paid in cash at closing. Initially, in August 2020, AT&T proposed to sell Crunchyroll to Sony for US$1.5 billion, a price that Sony deemed too high. As reported by The Information, this valuation equated to US$500 per subscriber. As a result, AT&T considered various potential buyers before ultimately selling to Sony.

With the ongoing collaborations and increasing anime offerings, Crunchyroll continues to cultivate a unique and engaging platform for anime fans in India and worldwide.
