The official Twitter account for Kurone Kanzaki’s “Demon Lord, Retry!” (Maō-sama, Retry!) light novel series made an exciting announcement on Monday. It revealed that the sequel manga, “Demon Lord, Retry! R,” created by Kanzaki and Amaru Minotake, will be adapted into an anime.
J-Novel Club holds the licenses for the original light novel series, the manga, and its sequel. The storyline of “Demon Lord, Retry! R” takes the Demon Lord on a renewed adventure. Venturing into the Hellion Territory after a mysterious encounter in Bastille Dungeon’s depths, he confronts ambitious Grand Devils competing for dominion.

Minotake introduced the “Demon Lord, Retry! R” manga on Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster website and app in March 2020.
The sixth compiled volume released on January 13, with the seventh scheduled for August 30. Impressively, the “Demon Lord, Retry!” series has achieved a circulation of 1.9 million copies. The franchise’s initial light novel series spawned an anime adaptation in July 2019, streamed by Funimation.
The narrative revolves around Akira Ōno, an ordinary office worker engrossed in managing an online game. His in-game persona, the “Dark Lord” known as “Maō,” unexpectedly becomes his avatar in the game’s fantasy realm.
Here, he joins forces with a one-legged girl, embarking on adventurous exploits. However, as a potent “Dark Lord,” he attracts attention from various nations and holy maidens determined to defeat him, inadvertently causing turmoil wherever he ventures.
Kanzaki’s tale first emerged on “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (Let’s Become Novelists) and Hameln websites from October to December 2016. The narrative expanded with a separate side story chapter in September 2018. Futabasha subsequently released the story in light novel volumes with Kōji Ogata’s illustrations in June 2017.
The M Novels label reissued the novels with new artwork by Makoto Iino. Notably, the ninth volume is set for release on September 29, following the eighth volume published in November 2021.

Amaru Minotake’s manga adaptation launched on Futabasha’s Web Comic Action site in October 2017. The manga concluded with its fifth volume in December 2019, wrapping up the visual interpretation of this captivating story.
