It has been announced that the Fuji TV game show “Run for the Money” (known as “Tōsōchū” in Japanese) will be adapted into a television anime titled “Tōsōchū: The Great Mission” set to air in the spring. The game show, which has been airing irregularly on Fuji TV since 2004, involves “runaway” contestants trying to survive in various locations such as theme parks and shopping centers as they attempt to earn cash while being pursued by “hunters.” The show has previously inspired stage productions, publications, and a Netflix release.

The anime adaptation is set in the future, after humans have migrated to the Moon due to Earth’s climate change. The anime will incorporate its own elements, including the human drama of survival in diverse locations that blur countries and eras, such as Shibuya, Edo-period Japan, and London.
