Voice actress and singer Aoi Yūki has announced her return to the music scene as a solo artist this year, marking the end of her hiatus, which began in 2017. Yūki revealed that her inspiration for new music may stem from messages received on her Discord server.
Explaining her decision, Yūki expressed that after her most recent “petit” album, Tokowaka no Kuni, she felt she had achieved her objectives and didn’t want to continue merely out of habit.
She believes that moving forward would be a disservice to her dedicated supporters who have cheered her on until now.
“When I initially embarked on my journey as a solo artist, my aim was always to sing songs from my own perspective, not as a voice actress portraying a character,” Yūki reminisced. “With the unwavering support of everyone and the collaborative efforts of the team, my artistic vision gradually took shape, and I persevered until Tokowaka no Kuni.”
Aoi Yūki made her debut as a voice actress in 2003 and rose to prominence in 2008 with her role in the Kurenai anime. Her illustrious career includes memorable characters such as Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia, Madoka Kaname in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tanya Degurechaff in Saga of Tanya the Evil, Kayo Hinazuki in ERASED, Diane in The Seven Deadly Sins, Mami Nanami in Rent-A-Girlfriend, Futaba Sakura in Persona 5, Maya Fey in Ace Attorney, and Tamaki Kotatsu in Fire Force.
Additionally, she has lent her voice to theme songs for numerous anime, often as one half of the singing duo petit milady alongside fellow voice actress Ayana Taketatsu.
Her third “petit” album, Tokowaka no Kuni, which marked her first solo album release in two years, was shipped in December 2016.
