AX Cinema Nights Brings 5 Anime Films Perfect Blue, Paprika, and More to U.S.

Iconic Events Releasing and Anime Expo have unveiled an exciting collaboration: they will jointly showcase five anime films across 300+ cinema venues in the U.S. The event, known as AX Cinema Nights, is scheduled to commence in September and continue until February 2024.

The lineup features esteemed works by Satoshi Kon, including Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika. Additionally, iconic films like Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie will also grace the screen during this exceptional cinematic journey.

The films will screen on the following dates:

  • Paprika (restored in 4K): February 7, 8, 11
  • Ghost in the Shell: November 8, 9, 12
  • Perfect Blue 25th anniversary screening (presented in partnership with GKIDS): September 6, 7, 10
  • Cowboy Bebop: The Movie: January 21-23
  • Tokyo Godfathers 20th anniversary screening: December 11-13
AX Cinema Nights Brings 5 Anime Films

Both English-subtitled and English-dubbed screenings will be available for the films. Ticket sales and theater information will be announced at a later date by the companies.

The inaugural AX Cinema Nights showcased the 3DCG anime movie “Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis < Decide >” (Ryōma! Shinsei Gekijōban Tennis no Ōji-sama) in May of the previous year. Following that, the event presented “The House of the Lost on the Cape” and “A Silent Voice” anime films in North America during September and October of the same year, respectively.
