During the “Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai Online 2023” livestream event, Kadokawa unveiled exciting news for anime enthusiasts. The much-anticipated Date A Live V television anime is set to make its debut in 2024.

This revelation was accompanied by the release of a second teaser video for the series and the introduction of a new cast member.

Among the fresh talent joining the cast is Aya Endo, who will take on the role of Mio Takamiya, a captivating young lady shrouded in mystery. Mio’s character has a significant connection to Shido’s enigmatic past.
The Date A Live franchise has a rich history, with its first season gracing screens in 2013, consisting of 12 episodes. Following that, the second season arrived in 2014 with 10 episodes.
Funimation was quick to stream both seasons in sync with their Japanese broadcasts. Additionally, the first season was released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD with an English dub in June 2014, while the second season followed suit in March 2016. In 2015, fans were treated to the Gekijōban Date A Live: Mayuri Judgment anime film.

The series continued to thrive, with a third season premiering in January 2019, spanning 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and Funimation provided a simuldub for English-speaking viewers. Notably, the fourth season of the anime hit screens in April 2022, following a brief delay from its initial October 2021 premiere date due to “various reasons.”
The original light novel series, authored by Koushi Tachibana with illustrations by Tsunako, made its debut in March 2011 and was published under Kadokawa’s Fantasia Bunko imprint.
The 22nd and final volume was released in March 2020. Yen Press has been releasing English versions of the novels to cater to an international audience.

The success of the light novels spawned numerous manga adaptations and video games. In addition, Yuichiro Higashide’s Date A Live Fragment: Date A Bullet spinoff novels made waves with a two-part theatrical anime adaptation in 2020.
