Bandai Namco Holdings Shifts To 3-Unit structure & Consolidates Overseas Subsidiaries

Bandai Namco Holdings announced on March 16 that it is reorganizing some of its overseas subsidiaries in the United States, France and China as a result of its reassessment of the direction of the company’s three-year medium-term plan in light of the expected. changes in the “lifestyle and sense of value of customers”.

  • Bandai Namco Collectibles LLC will merge with Bandai America Inc. and retain the Bandai America Inc. name effectively on April 1, 2022.
  • Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe S.A.S. will merge with Bandai Namco Holdings France S.A.S. and will retain the name Bandai Namco Holdings France S.A.S. as of September 30 of this year.
  • Bandai Namco Toys & Hobby Shanghai Co, Ltd. will merge with Bandai Namco Entertainment Shanghai Co., Ltd. and retain the name Bandai Namco Entertainment Shanghai Co, Ltd. effective January 1, 2022.

In addition, the Bandai Namco Group will change from a five-unit structure to a three-unit structure consisting of the Entertainment Unit (merger of the former Toys and Hobbies Unit and the Network Entertainment Unit), the Production Unit of IP (merger of the former Visual and Music Production Unit and PI Creation Unit), and the Amusement Unit (formerly Real Entertainment Unit).

Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. is a Japanese multinational video game developer and publisher, based in Minato-ku, Tokyo. Its international branches, Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, are headquartered in Santa Clara, California and Lyon, France, respectively. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings.

Bandai Namco Entertainment was formed on March 31, 2006, following a corporate merger between Namco and Bandai on September 29 of the previous year. Originally known as Namco Bandai Games, they merged Bandai Games and Namco Networks in January to create a North American division, Namco Bandai Games America. Namco Bandai Games absorbed Banpresto’s video games division in 2008 and dissolved Bandai Networks in 2009. Development operations were split into a new company in 2012, Namco Bandai Studios (now Bandai Namco Studios), to help create a development time. faster and closer cohesion between development teams. Namco Bandai Games was renamed Bandai Namco Games in 2014 and again to Bandai Namco Entertainment a year later.
