Kadokawa recently unveiled a new promotional video for the upcoming second season of the television anime adaptation of Zappon and Yasumo’s light novel series, “Banished From The Heroes’ Party.” In this exciting announcement, they not only disclosed the show’s staff but also shared that the second season is set to premiere in January 2024. The official title for this new season is “Shin no Nakama janai to Yūsha no Party o Oidasareta node, Henkyō de Slow Life Suru Koto ni Shimashita 2nd.”
Makoto Hoshino, who directed the first season, has assumed the role of chief director for this installment, while the directorial credit goes to Satoshi Takafuji, known for his work on the ninth episode of the initial season. Interestingly, Studio Flad now takes sole credit for animation production, whereas the first season was a collaboration between Studio Flad and Wolfsbane.
Additionally, Yukiko Ashino is newly credited for art setting, alongside returning staff member Tsukasa Ohira, with both contributing to the art direction. Notably, Norimasa Teramoto replaces Kenji Takehara as the director of photography, while Takatoshi Hamano takes over from Nobuyuki Abe as the sound director. The sound production responsibilities now rest with Magic Capsule, succeeding On-Lead. The rest of the main staff from the first season remains unchanged.
It’s worth mentioning that Funimation streamed the first season as it aired in Japan during the fall of 2021. (The show’s release had been postponed from July to October of that year due to “various circumstances.”) For those who missed it, the first season is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
In the initial season, directed by Makoto Hoshino, known for works like “DamePri Anime Caravan” and “KING’S RAID: Successors of the Will,” the anime was produced by Wolfsbane and Studio Flad. Megumi Shimizu, recognized for her involvement in series like “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!” and “KING’S RAID: Successors of the Will,” was responsible for crafting the series scripts. Character design duties were assigned to Ruriko Watanabe, whose credits include “KutsuDaru.” and “DamePri Anime Caravan.”
For English-speaking fans, Yen Press is the publisher of the light novels, offering the following description of the story:
“Red was once a member of the Hero’s party, a powerful group destined to save the world from the evil forces of Taraxon, the Raging Demon Lord. That is, until one of his comrades kicked him out. Hoping to live the easy life on the frontier, Red’s new goal is to open an apothecary.
However, keeping the secret of his former life may not be as simple as he thinks. Especially when the beautiful Rit, an adventurer from his past, shows up and asks to move in with him!”
Zappon initiated the serialization of this captivating tale on the “Shōsetsuka ni Nārō” website back in October 2017, where it continues to captivate readers. Kadokawa subsequently began the print publication of the story in June 2018, complete with illustrations by Yasumo. A manga adaptation by Masahiro Ikeno was also introduced in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in May 2018. As of now, the franchise boasts over 2.2 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.
