Adding to the excitement, the 42nd compiled volume of the manga, the first since its hiatus, is scheduled for release in Japan on September 29. The anticipation surrounding this volume’s arrival is palpable, as it represents a significant milestone in the series’ posthumous continuation.

Tragically, Kentarou Miura, the genius behind “Berserk,” passed away on May 6, 2021, due to acute aortic dissection, leaving a void in the manga world. Following his passing, the series went on a temporary hiatus, but hope was reignited when it resumed in Young Animal magazine in June 2022. Now, the manga bears the credits: “Original work by Kentarou Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori.”
Studio Gaga, Miura’s studio, comprised of his dedicated assistants and apprentices who worked alongside him on “Berserk,” plays a crucial role in maintaining the manga’s legacy. Notably, Kouji Mori, a close childhood friend of Miura’s, served as a valuable consultant for plot intricacies in “Berserk.”
In June 2022, Mori revealed that he holds the knowledge of the series up to its conclusion. Mori even crafted a one-shot manga in Young Animal in 2021, recounting the heartwarming tale of his lifelong friendship and creative partnership with Miura.
