During Anime Expo’s Crunchyroll panel on Monday, a significant announcement was made regarding a fresh television anime adaptation of Yana Tobos’s acclaimed manga, Black Butler. Contrary to being a remake, Crunchyroll emphasized that this anime will serve as a new season, delighting fans.

Scheduled for a 2024 premiere, the series has already secured worldwide streaming rights (excluding Japan) through Crunchyroll’s licensing agreement.

Daisuke Ono and Maaya Sakamoto return to their iconic roles as the suave butler and cunning demon, Sebastian Michaelis, and the young British noble, Ciel Phantomhive, respectively.
Leading the creative team is Kenjirō Okada, acclaimed for directing notable works like “March Comes in Like a Lion” and “RWBY: Ice Queendom.”

Meanwhile, the experienced Hiroyuki Yoshino, known for his involvement in previous Black Butler anime, takes charge of series composition.
Yumi Shimizu, who previously contributed as an episode animation director and key animator in the 2008 Black Butler anime, brings her talent as the character designer. Complementing the visuals, Ryo Kawasaki, recognized for composing music for “Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia,” “To Your Eternity,” and “Romantic Killer,” crafts the captivating soundtrack.
Originating from Yana Toboso’s manga of the same name, the Black Butler anime series initially premiered in Japan in 2008, followed by its sequel, Black Butler II, in 2010. Funimation, renowned for its quality releases, has made all three television anime, the Black Butler II OVA project, the Black Butler: Book of Murder OVA, and the Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic anime film available on home video.
