In an unprecedented collaboration, the global sensation BTS is set to make their mark on the superhero genre with the highly anticipated animated series, BASTIONS. Crunchyroll, the popular streaming platform, announced today that they have acquired the rights to the upcoming five-part series, which is a joint production between Thymos Media and Korean producers.
BASTIONS introduces audiences to a world where superheroes compete for popularity, and it follows the journey of a group of rookie heroes who rise to prominence after successfully saving Earth from a grave environmental crisis. The series promises to captivate viewers with its unique blend of K-Pop and animation, incorporating several original songs by prominent K-Pop artists. The main theme song, composed and performed by BTS, marks their first collective project since the release of their acclaimed anthology album, “Proof,” in June of last year.

Recognizing the global appeal of K-Pop and anime, Crunchyroll’s Chief Content Officer, Asa Suehira, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating, “Crunchyroll has an extraordinary opportunity to introduce fans to more animation styles from Asia, and this exciting new series from Korea does just that. And having the music of so many K-pop stars really broadens the appeal of BASTIONS.”
Aside from BTS, the BASTIONS soundtrack will feature tracks from the esteemed K-Pop girl group Le Sserafim, as well as acclaimed singers Heize and AleXa. Thymos Media, the production company behind the series, expressed confidence in BTS’s contribution, emphasizing their ability to enhance the emotional depth and action sequences through their impeccable harmonies on the theme song.

Crunchyroll will begin airing BASTIONS on Saturdays, starting May 13, with worldwide streaming rights, excluding China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, North Korea, and South Korea. The series is anticipated to resonate strongly with Indian anime and K-Pop enthusiasts, as it will be available for streaming in India, further cementing the global reach of both BTS and the anime genre.
With its unprecedented fusion of K-Pop and animation, BASTIONS is poised to captivate audiences around the world. As fans eagerly anticipate the series’ premiere, it represents a groundbreaking milestone in the creative collaborations between the music and animation industries, promising an extraordinary viewing experience for both BTS enthusiasts and superhero aficionados alike.
