Burn The Witch – Anime Review

(Last Updated On: October 2, 2020)

Hey, guys welcome back to Animeindia.in. So today I watched Tite Kubo’s latest creation Burn The Witch Anime Adaptation. It was really a very refreshing experience to watch Tite Kubo’s work after a very long time. So let’s get started.

About Burn the Witch

Official Trailer

Burn the Witch (stylized as BURN ☩HE WITCH) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It was first published in Weekly Shōnen Jump as a single chapter in July 2018. A serialized continuation of the one-shot is being published with a seasonal release schedule. The first season of 4 chapters was published in the same magazine from August to September 2020. A second season of the manga has been announced. An anime film produced by Studio Colorful was released in October 2020. The movie I just watched today.

The story of Burn the Witch takes place in the Bleach universe and follows two witches, Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole, who work for the western branch of the Soul Society, located in Reverse London.

Overwhelming Aspects Of Burn the Witch

The animation by Studio Colorful was really good. The action scenes were well animated and provided a sense of excitement. The animation and artwork were very stylish and nostalgic at the same time for Bleach lovers. Of course, character designs were pretty similar to the bleach world. I don’t think that it is a coincidence as naming it Soul Society West Branch and Bleach in Burn the witch logo. The main legendary dragon ( Marchen) animation was good as well. The entire backstory scene with Macy and Elly was presented wonderfully. The voice cast was all solid & the ED song was nice and the soundtrack fits perfectly. The main characters, Noel and Ninny, were really likable (even if not fully developed), and they really had natural and believable chemistry between them.

Underwhelming Aspects Of Burn the Witch

Burn The Witch has many flaws as well. The story is not fully developed the audience felt like they had missed some part of the story before. The working of the Reverse London was not explained properly, the citizen was kind of confused about that. The counsel & magic’s working was not explained. Nothing about the power levels as well.

The series needs to answer many questions ahead in the next sequel of the story.

Conclusion

The overall experience was really good. I am a huge Bleach fan so you guys know my bias. The non-bleach fans might not like as much as bleach fans. I will give a rating of 8/10. This series could certainly become something big in the future. Iy may or may not be linked to Soul Society in some way, but only Kubo can answer that. For the Indian Audience Burn the Witch is available on Muse Asia Youtube Channel. For the Global audience Burn the Witch is available on Amazon Prime Video And Crunchyroll.
