During the live-streamed MF Bunko J Summer School Festival event on Sunday, exciting details about the upcoming television anime adaptation of Ghost Mikawa and Hiten’s “Gimai Seikatsu” (Days With My Stepsister) novels were revealed.
The event showcased a captivating trailer, a striking key visual, and announced the highly anticipated premiere in 2024.

Heading the project is talented director Tsutomu Ueno, who will be bringing the anime to life at Studio DEEN. Mitsutaka Hirota, known for his exceptional work on “Edens Zero” and “Bibliophile Princess,” has taken charge of the series scripts, promising a compelling narrative.
The anime stars:
- Daiki Hamano as Tomokazu Maru
- Yuki Nakashima as Saki Ayase
- Ayu Suzuki as Narasaka Maaya
- Kōhei Amasaki as Yuta Asamura
- Minori Suzuki as Shiori Yomiuri
Accomplished character designer Manabu Nii, acclaimed for his work on “Akiba Maid War” and “The Day I Became a God,” will ensure the characters are brought to life with depth and authenticity.
The heartwarming novels revolve around Yuta Asamura, a high school student whose life takes an unexpected turn when his parent remarries, granting him a beautiful and intelligent younger stepsister named Saki Ayase, who happens to be the top student in her grade.
Despite having some knowledge of male-female relationships through their parents, they decide to maintain a balanced approach to their new family dynamic, striving to avoid discord without compromising their individuality.
Saki yearns for familial love but often seeks solitude, while Yuta grapples with the responsibilities of being an older brother. As the story unfolds, they gradually learn to find comfort and understanding in each other’s presence.
Kadokawa published the first novel in January 2021, with the ninth volume set to release on August 25, showcasing the series’ popularity. Notably, Ghost Mikawa is also known for creating the “My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me!” light novel series.
