Kodansha recently revealed an exciting development for the Tokyo Revengers franchise: a stage musical adaptation is set to captivate audiences in Tokyo and Osaka from November to December this year.

Kaori Miura, renowned for her work in directing the fourth season of the Prince of Tennis musical, takes the helm as the director of this extraordinary stage production. Muck Akazawa, the brilliant mind behind the script and lyrics of Ensemble Stars! stage play, lends their exceptional talent to bring this captivating story to life.

Accomplished musician manzo, known for their remarkable compositions in Yowamushi Pedal and Touken Ranbu stage plays, weaves a mesmerizing musical score that will resonate with audiences. The choreography duties are entrusted to the dynamic duo of Shōji Tōyama from A3! stage plays and YOU, an integral part of the Prince of Tennis musical season 4, ensuring a visually stunning and exhilarating experience.

The manga, created by the talented Ken Wakui and serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine starting in March 2017, concluded its gripping storyline in November 2022. Weekly Shōnen Magazine now unveils the thrilling Tokyo Revengers Extra spinoff manga, delving into the origins of the Tokyo Manji Gang, captivating readers once again with its enthralling narrative.

While watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki receives devastating news of his middle school sweetheart, Hinata Tachibana, falling victim to the ruthless Tokyo Manji Gang. Inhabiting a shabby, paper-thin-walled apartment and enduring the condescension of a boss six years his junior, Takemichi’s existence seems bleak. Adding to his strife, he carries the weight of being an inexperienced virgin. However, just when he hits rock bottom, an extraordinary phenomenon transports him twelve years into the past, back to his middle school days. Determined to rescue Hinata and rewrite his life of constant evasion, Takemichi must ascend to the pinnacle of Kanto’s most menacing delinquent syndicate!

The manga’s initial TV anime adaptation debuted in April 2021, with Crunchyroll streaming the series simultaneously with its Japanese broadcast. The anime featured the Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown arc, which first aired on January 7 and spanned 13 episodes. The series was also made available on Disney+ and Hulu. Fans can look forward to the upcoming Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku-hen (Tenjiku Arc) anime, set to premiere in October.

In July 2021, the inaugural live-action adaptation of the manga made its debut in Japan, swiftly claiming the top spot as the country’s most popular live-action film of the year. The film is now available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Continuing the saga, the first installment of the two anticipated sequel live-action movies, “Chi no Halloween -Unmei-” (Bloody Halloween -Fate-), premiered on April 21. Building up to an exhilarating climax, the second film, “Chi no Halloween -Kessen-” (Bloody Halloween -Decisive Battle-), is set to release on June 30.
