In a recent report from Sportskeeda, Manabu Otsuka, the esteemed CEO of Studio MAPPA, expressed his honest assessment of the Chainsaw Man anime, admitting that it did not achieve the level of success the company had hoped for. Otsuka revealed that while the series performed well financially, it fell short in terms of DVD/Blu-Ray sales, failing to meet his lofty expectations. Despite garnering substantial viewership through its TV distribution, the CEO lamented the inability to reach a wider audience who would actively purchase the physical package. Furthermore, he acknowledged that Chainsaw Man lacked the same resounding “impact” that the immensely popular Jujutsu Kaisen had achieved.
