Japanese singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu has achieved another major milestone in his career, as the music video for his song “KICK BACK” has surpassed 100 million views in just six months and one day since its release in October 2022. The song “KICK BACK” was written and composed by Yonezu, with co-arrangement by Daiki Tsuneda of King Gnu/millennium parade. The music video for the song, directed by Yoshiyuki Okuyama, features Yonezu and Tsuneda doing muscle training exercises before an unexpected twist takes place. The comical and shocking developments in the video have captured the attention of fans and led to numerous parody videos online.
“KICK BACK” was released digitally on October 12, 2022, and the CD single followed on November 23. Both versions reached the top spot on Oricon’s weekly single charts, further showcasing Yonezu’s popularity and success.
Yonezu’s music has continued to resonate with fans both in Japan and around the world, and his latest achievement with “KICK BACK” demonstrates his talent and dedication as an artist.
