Crunchyroll has entered into a licensing partnership with brand licensing agency Black White Orange to manage merchandise licensing programs for Crunchyroll in India. This move aims to cater to the growing demand for anime-related products in the Indian market.
More than 35 popular anime titles available for streaming on Crunchyroll, including series like Zom 100: Bucket List of The Dead, Robotech, Vash the Stampede, Trigun, and My Dress-Up Darling, will be part of the merchandise licensing program.
Raphael Guimaraes, Crunchyroll’s associate director, will lead consumer products deals for the Indian subcontinent. The collaboration aims to provide official and authentic anime merchandise to Indian fans, countering the proliferation of counterfeit manga and anime products in the country.
The partnership comes in response to a study by Rakuten Digital Commerce, which showed that anime enthusiasts in India are highly engaged and willing to spend more on licensed products compared to the national average.
By establishing legal channels for official merchandise, Crunchyroll aims to offer fans the opportunity to support their favorite anime creators while ensuring they receive genuine and high-quality products.
