On Saturday, Kadokawa revealed an exciting reunion in the world of anime. Director Takayuki Hirao, animation studio CLAP, character designer Shingo Adachi, and composer Kenta Matsukuma, who previously collaborated on the visually stunning Pompo: The Cinéphile film (pictured at right), are joining forces once again. Their upcoming project, currently untitled but referred to as “Wasted Chef,” marks Hirao’s highly anticipated debut as an original creator.

Hirao has confirmed his attendance at the upcoming Anime Expo event next month. He will be present for a special screening of Pompo: The Cinéphile and will actively participate in a Q&A session scheduled for July 1. To celebrate the film’s second anniversary, Pompo: The Cinéphile will be showcased at the EJ Anime Theater Shinjuku from June 4 to 8. The screenings will also include an engaging discussion with the staff, which is set to take place on June 4.

GKIDS had previously premiered the film in the United States back in April 2022. Following its successful run, GKIDS and Shout! Factory made the film available digitally and on home video in June 2022.
