(Last Updated On: July 21, 2023)

Shinichirou Watanabe, the acclaimed director behind anime classics like ‘Cowboy Bebop’ and ‘Samurai Champloo,’ is making a highly anticipated comeback after an extended break from directing. The excitement is palpable as he reveals his new project titled ‘Lazarus.’

Produced by Adult Swim in collaboration with the renowned studio Mappa, ‘Lazarus’ promises to be a thrilling action-packed anime set in a futuristic sci-fi world. Fans are eager to witness Watanabe’s trademark diverse storytelling and character writing once again.

The story revolves around a Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist, Dr. Skinner, who develops a revolutionary drug called Hapuna, seemingly free of any side effects. However, the joy is short-lived as Dr. Skinner suddenly disappears, and three years later, he reemerges with a shocking revelation. Hapuna has a short half-life, and everyone who has taken it will die in approximately three years. As the world faces this impending doom, a special task force called “Lazarus” is assembled to find Dr. Skinner and develop a vaccine before it’s too late.
