Within the game’s narrative tapestry, an archipelago nestled in Obelia Bay hosts the seafaring Normans, casting players into the role of the protagonist, Adol Christin. As Adol navigates this realm, an enigmatic new adversary, the “Griegers,” nefarious undying revenants, emerge to torment humanity.
Novel combat modes enliven the gameplay experience: “Solo Mode” grants mastery over one character with seamless auxiliary support, while “Combination Mode” empowers simultaneous control of two protagonists. The game’s allure extends to its seafaring scope, as players commandeer a traversable ship to plumb the expanses of the sea and archipelago, engaging in riveting ship-to-ship confrontations.
Recalling its precursor, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, which debuted in September 2019 for PS4 in Japan, NIS America subsequently ushered the title to North American and European audiences in February 2021. Expanding its reach, the game voyaged to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in July 2021, followed by its PS5 debut on May 9 in North America and May 12 in Europe.
