The official website for NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a, the television adaptation of Square Enix and Platinum Games’ action role-playing game NieR:Automata, released a captivating teaser trailer for its upcoming episodes.
These episodes, spanning from the ninth to the twelfth, are set to air on July 23 in a special simultaneous broadcast. Tokyo MX, BS11, and Tochigi TV will broadcast the four episodes from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., followed by Gunma TV later that evening.
While it remains uncertain if the anime will continue beyond episode 12, fans eagerly anticipate this exciting installment.
The anime initially premiered on January 7 but encountered delays due to COVID-19. Episode 4, originally scheduled for January 28, was pushed back to February 18.
Subsequently, episodes 9 and onward faced postponement in March, as the production committee cited the impact of rising COVID-19 infections on the show’s production schedule. Despite these challenges, fans can enjoy the anime through Crunchyroll’s streaming platform.
Square Enix’s game, NieR:Automata, showcases an enthralling narrative set in a machine-infested dystopia, where androids 2B, 9S, and A2 fiercely battle to reclaim Earth from powerful mechanical invaders. With humanity driven to the brink, the human resistance deploys a squad of android soldiers in a final attempt to restore their planet. As the war between machines and androids escalates, profound revelations about the forgotten truths of their world are on the verge of being unveiled.
The anime adaptation is helmed by director Ryouji Masuyama (known for Blend S and Hello WeGo!) at A-1 Pictures. Collaborating with the original game’s creator, Yokō Tarō, Masuyama also assumes the role of series composition. Jun Nakai contributes to the project as the character designer and chief animation director, while MONACA creates the captivating musical score that accompanies the series.
