During our interview with the team behind the popular anime podcast, we had the opportunity to ask them a range of questions about their show, their experiences in the anime industry, and their thoughts on the future of anime. Here are some of the highlights from our conversation with Ani-lyst Team.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about the history of The Ani-lyst Podcast and how it got started?
We stumbled upon the Trash Taste Podcast during the pandemic. Our podcast is inspired by them. After doing a bit of research we got to knowthat India lacked a High Production Anime podcast. We invested a lot of time and energy planning out every small detail, the flow of the podcast to learning multiple new Softwares. After 4 months of planning, we finally uploaded our first video and thus, the birth of The Ani-Lyst Podcast – India’s #1 Ranked Indian Anime Podcast on YouTube.
We started our Youtube journey on November 21, 2021 and as of now, we have completed the milestone of 100,000 Channel views. The podcast covers a range of topics, including reviews of popular anime series and movies, discussions on the latest trends in the anime industry, and interviews with notable figures from the Indian Anime Ecosystem like AnimeTm Talks, AnimeHunch, Nagpur Anime Club, Mayo Japan Etc.

Q: How do you decide on the topics and guests for each episode?
As Anime Enthusiasts, we started off this journey as a hobby and thus we keep our flow nature and unscripted. We like talking about Anime the way anybody talks about Anime with their friends. The Flow of the Podcast is usually decided by the latest trends. And, if we invite a Guest for a fun podcast session we usually cater to the Guest’s background, whether if it’s an Anituber or a big figure in the Indian Anime Industry. In our Podcast, we always as our guest about their top 5 Anime which often leds to further discussions
Q: What do you think makes The Ani-lyst Podcast unique compared to other anime podcasts out there?
Though there are multiple anime podcasts out there, we saw a void in the Indian YouTube sphere. That’s where we come into picture. While starting we wanted to be the premium anime podcast that weebs can always expect topnotch quality from.
We put a lot of thought into our studio. We use a three-cam setup so the visuals don’t get too monotonous, we also use dynamic mics for a crisp audio quality and last but not least, the figurines; we’ve flooded our studio with fan favourite anime figurines, cosplays and easter-eggs; for eg – the violin is a ‘Your Lie in April” reference, the Katana in the studio is from “Bleach”
The entire podcast is a Weebgasm!
Q: What do you think are some of the biggest challenges of running an anime podcast?
Well, the YouTube algorithm can be tricky at times as it recommends and showcases videos on people’s feeds from Bigger channels, thus, it’s difficult for newer channels to grow.
From a content point of view, it can be time consuming to find interesting topics for discussion in an anime podcast. Not only do you have to research what is popular, but you also have to consider what would make good content for your listeners. Additionally, finding guests with interesting perspectives and insights on anime can also be difficult.
Another challenge is ensuring that your audio recordings have good sound quality. This means investing a good amount of money for the right equipment and software as well as knowing how to use them properly in order to create a good listening experience for your audience.

Q: How do you stay up-to-date on the latest anime news and trends?
Staying up-to-date on the latest anime news and trends can be a daunting task. With so much information available online, it can be difficult to know what’s important and relevant.
One of the best ways to stay up-to-date on the latest anime news and trends is to follow reliable sources. This could include subscribing to newsletters from popular websites or following social media accounts dedicated to anime news. Additionally, attending conventions and events related to anime can also help you stay informed about the latest developments in this field.
Q: What do you think are some of the biggest misconceptions people have about anime?
People often think that all anime is the same, or that it’s only for kids. They may also believe that all anime is violent or that the art style is too “weird” or “cringy;”. However, these misconceptions couldn’t be further from the truth. Anime comes in many different genres and styles and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Q: What are some of your favorite anime series or movies, and why?
Aryan loves the Isekai Genre, some of his favourites are Sword Art Online, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, Inuyasha and some Rom-Com – Slice of Life like Call of the Night, Horimiya. Sahil on the other hand is a die hard Naruto Fan. As in the anime, Naruto explores the themes of pain, love, governmental functioning, peace, and whatnot. It does this beautifully because it’s exceptionally hard to find anyone in the anime, even a villain, who didn’t have valid reasoning behind his actions.
Q: How do you see the future of anime and anime fandom evolving in the coming years?
Anime has become a popular form of entertainment for fans around the world. With new technologies, anime fandom is evolving and becoming more accessible than ever before. The future of anime will be shaped by the way fans interact with it, as well as how creators use technology to tell stories in unique and innovative ways. We can expect to see more immersive experiences, deeper engagement with characters, and a greater focus on the impact of fan culture on the industry in the coming years.
In conclusion, The Ani-lyst Podcast is a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and hard work. With their commitment to producing high-quality content and engaging with their listeners in a natural, unscripted way, they have become a leading voice in the Indian anime community and a must-listen for fans of the genre.
