Final Getsuga Tensho: Quincy Origin Theory?

(Last Updated On: March 29, 2023)

Bleach is a beloved anime with epic fights and plot twists that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. One of the most unforgettable moments in the series is undoubtedly Ichigo’s use of the Final Getsuga Tensho. This technique is believed to be the pinnacle of Ichigo’s Shinigami powers and a transformative moment in his character development.

However, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed a striking resemblance between the Final Getsuga Tensho and a Quincy technique. This observation has sparked a fascinating theory that the Final Getsuga may have been borrowed from the Quincy arsenal.

The possibility of this being true is a tantalizing idea that raises some thought-provoking questions. Could this be evidence of a deeper connection between Shinigami and Quincy powers? Or perhaps it reveals a secret history between the two groups that has yet to be fully explored.

As fans eagerly await more Bleach content, the mystery surrounding the Final Getsuga Tensho and its connection to the Quincy adds another layer of intrigue to an already captivating story.

Exploring the Mysteries of the Final Getsuga Tensho!

Isshin Kurosaki spoke of a technique so formidable that it was believed to be the pinnacle of Ichigo’s power – the Final Getsuga Tensho. This technique was a last resort for Ichigo, as it required him to sacrifice his Shinigami powers. However, the potential payoff was immense – Ichigo would literally transform himself into the very embodiment of Getsuga, gaining an unimaginable level of power that could bring even a Hogyoku-fused Aizen to his knees.

In this state, Ichigo and his Zanpakuto, Zangetsu, would fuse into one entity. Ichigo’s once bright orange hair would turn jet black, and his body would radiate a pitch-black aura that would consume his right arm, transforming it into a blade of pure darkness. The power he wielded in this form was almost beyond comprehension, and the full extent of its abilities was never fully explored.

However, one technique was shown to devastating effect – Mugetsu. With a single strike, Ichigo was able to unleash a wave of destruction that almost completely annihilated Aizen in his most advanced evolution. The power of Mugetsu forced Aizen to revert to a less-evolved state, and it seemed as though Ichigo had emerged victorious.

Yet, the cost of using such immense power was great. Ichigo’s Shinigami powers gradually dwindled over time, and he was forced to bid farewell to the world of the supernatural. Nonetheless, the legend of the Final Getsuga Tensho lived on, a testament to the incredible strength and sacrifice that Ichigo was willing to endure to protect those he cared about.

Could the Final Getsuga Tensho Technique Actually Originate from Quincy Roots?

Bleach fans, have you ever noticed the striking similarities between two supposedly distinct techniques – the Final Getsuga Tensho and the Lezt Stil? It’s almost as if they’re two sides of the same coin, but why is that? Let’s dive deeper into this intriguing theory.

The Lezt Stil, an ancient Quincy technique, was showcased only once by Uryu Ishida during his intense battle with Shinigami captain Mayuri Kurotsutchi. By removing his Sanrei glove, Uryu was able to collect and harness spiritual energy to an unprecedented level. This caused him to transform, sprouting a wing-like appendage on his right side that resulted in a drastic increase in power. Sound familiar? It should, because the same thing happened to Ichigo when he activated the Final Getsuga Tensho.

Now, while Ichigo was taught this technique by his father, Isshin Kurosaki, it’s unclear whether it’s a true Shinigami power. In fact, Isshin himself never used this power, which is quite odd given that he was the one to teach it to Ichigo. This raises the possibility that the Final Getsuga Tensho might actually be an aspect of Ichigo’s Quincy heritage.

During Ichigo’s training in the Dangai, his inner Hollow and the Old Man merge into one being, forcing him to confront his power head-on. As the Old Man represents his Quincy heritage, it’s possible that the Final Getsuga Tensho incorporates some of Ichigo’s latent Quincy abilities.

Using the Final Getsuga Tensho causes Ichigo to lose his Shinigami powers, just like using Lezt Stil did with Uryu. Interestingly, both were able to reawaken their powers after someone with the same type of power channeled it through their heart. Ichigo was stabbed in the heart by Rukia with a Zanpakuto containing the spiritual energy of the Gotei 13, while Uryu’s father shot a Quincy arrow through his heart. Is this a coincidence, or a deliberate hint at a deeper connection between these two techniques?

While the theory of the Final Getsuga Tensho being an aspect of Ichigo’s Quincy powers is yet to be confirmed, it’s also not been denied. This tantalizing possibility gives fans hope that there might be more to Ichigo’s story and his heritage than what was explored in the series. So, what do you think? Could the Final Getsuga Tensho and Lezt Stil be linked, or is it just a coincidence?

You have to walk, and create the way by your walking; you will not find a ready-made path. It is not so cheap, to reach to the ultimate realization of truth. You will have to create the path by walking yourself; the path is not ready-made, lying there and waiting for you. It is just like the sky: the birds fly, but they don't leave any footprints. You cannot follow them; there are no footprints left behind.
