Additionally, Toonami has already begun generating buzz for FLCL: Shoegaze with a commercial stream on Facebook.
Both FLCL: Grunge and FLCL: Shoegaze represent exciting new additions to the beloved FLCL anime series. What’s more, The Pillows, known for their iconic music in the franchise, are once again providing their signature soundtracks for both of these seasons.
Overseeing the production, we have Jason DeMarco, who serves as the creative director of Toonami and holds the role of senior vice president of action and anime at WarnerMedia. Maki Terashima-Furuta, of Production I.G. USA fame with credits like FLCL Alternative and Fena: Pirate Princess, is the producer for both of these highly anticipated seasons.
In the world of FLCL: Grunge, the reins of direction are in the capable hands of Hitoshi Takekiyo, helming the project at MontBlanc Pictures. This CGI-animated series delves into the lives of three post-graduation teenagers as they navigate the complexities of adulthood, forming a compelling narrative around this transitional phase of life.
Meanwhile, for FLCL: Shoegaze, Yutaka Uemura, known for his work on FLCL Alternative, takes on the directorial role at Production I.G. and NUT. Set a decade after the events of FLCL Alternative, this installment revolves around the experiences of a high school boy and girl, bringing fresh perspectives and challenges to the FLCL universe.
It’s worth noting that FLCL Alternative and FLCL Progressive served as previous sequels to the original FLCL, and fans can expect even more thrilling and thought-provoking storytelling in these exciting new additions to the series.
