Exciting news for fans of the popular Ōarai Angler Fish Festival as it makes a triumphant return to Ibaraki Prefecture’s scenic coastal town of Ōarai on November 19, after a four-year hiatus. The last festival, held in 2019, left a lasting impression with a record-breaking attendance of 140,000 enthusiastic participants.

The announcement of the festival’s revival came during the “Girls & Panzer Virtual Live, Hajimemasu!~ Ōarai de Zen’in Shūgō!!!!!!!~” event on August 19. To make this occasion even more special, cast members from the beloved anime series “Girls und Panzer” are set to grace the event.
Fans can look forward to meeting Mai Fuchigami (Miho Nishizumi), Ai Kayano (Saori Takebe), Mami Ozaki (Hana Isuzu), Ikumi Nakagami (Yukari Akiyama), Yuka Iguchi (Mako Reizei), and the series’ theme song performer, ChouCho. ChouCho’s latest song, “Never Say Goodbye,” will also debut as the theme song for the final three installments of the “Girls und Panzer das Finale” film series.
The Ōarai Angler Fish Festival holds a special place in the hearts of both locals and anime enthusiasts. Following the devastation caused by the March 2011 tsunami, the festival played a significant role in the town’s recovery by drawing visitors in large numbers.
