On Thursday, the Resident Evil franchise’s official Twitter account delighted fans with an exciting announcement: Resident Evil Village has achieved a remarkable milestone, selling an impressive 8 million copies globally.
Resident Evil Village, the eighth installment in CAPCOM’s renowned survival horror series, was released in May 2021 for multiple platforms including PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam and Stadia).
Building upon the narrative of the highly acclaimed Resident Evil 7: biohazard, the game takes place a few years later, where Ethan Winters and his wife, Mia, believe they have finally escaped the haunting terrors of the Baker family’s estate. However, their newfound tranquility is shattered when an unexpected yet familiar face reemerges – the enigmatic Chris Redfield. As a result of Chris’s startling actions, Ethan finds himself trapped in a mysterious village enveloped in an icy blanket.
In October 2022, the game received “The Winters’ Expansion” DLC, featuring a captivating storyline titled “Shadows of Rose,” which unfolds 16 years after the main game’s events. Additionally, this expansion introduces a third-person mode for the primary single-player campaign and enhances the Mercenaries mode with three new playable characters.
