On Thursday, Kadokawa released a video announcing the television anime adaptation of Nana Nanato’s light novel series, VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral after Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream. The video featured the voice of Ayane Sakura as the VTuber character Awayuki Kokorone from the light novel series.
VTubing, or live streaming oneself as a virtual character, has been growing in popularity over the last few years. But for one VTuber, their rise to fame was a complete accident. It all started when “Legend,” a self-proclaimed “light novel enthusiast,” accidentally left their stream on while reading a new book.

To their surprise, viewers began flooding in, drawn in by the combination of Legend’s colorful virtual persona and their genuine passion for the story. As the stream continued, more and more people tuned in to watch Legend’s reactions to the plot twists and turns.
They laughed at Legend’s jokes and cheered them on as they rooted for their favorite characters. Before long, Legend had amassed a sizable following, and their streams were regularly reaching tens of thousands of viewers.
