Hazuki Kudō in ‘My Happy Marriage Anime’ Voiced by Yōko Hikasa

On Monday, Kadokawa announced a captivating addition to the cast of the television anime “My Happy Marriage” (Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon), derived from the light novel series penned by Akumi Agitogi and illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka.

Yōko Hikasa will be taking on the role of Hazuki Kudō, portrayed as the elder sister of Kiyoka Kudō. This anticipated character, Hazuki, is set to make her debut appearance in the upcoming seventh episode, scheduled for release on Wednesday.

Having made its debut on July 5, the anime has already captured the attention of viewers. Notably, the global audience can also indulge in the series as Netflix commenced worldwide streaming on the same day. A well-rounded 12-episode arc is expected to unravel, promising a satisfying narrative for fans.

Moreover, enthusiasts can look forward to a unique treat in the form of an original anime titled “Shiawase no Katachi” (The Shape of Happiness), bundled with the eighth novel volume. This exciting bonus will be available on Blu-ray Disc and is slated for release on March 15, 2024, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the series’ journey.

Takehiro Kubota, also known as “Gloomy the Naughty Grizzly,” helms the series under Kinema Citrus, recognized for their work on “Made in Abyss.” Overseeing storyboards and supervision is Takao Abo, acclaimed for contributions to “22/7” and “Macross Frontier.” Leading the series scripts are Ami Satо̄, Takahito Ōnishi, and Momoka Toyoda. Shōko Yasuda, renowned for “Happy Sugar Life,” crafts character designs, while Yuushi Koshida, noted for “Ghost in the Shell Arise,” directs 3DCG. Evan Call, of “Violet Evergarden” fame, composes the music. The opening theme “Anata no Soba ni” (By Your Side) resonates through Riria.’s performance, and Kashitarō Itō delivers the closing theme “Vita Philosophica.”

The novel series, initiated by Agitogi and Tsukioka in January 2019, has been licensed by Yen Press. The tale introduces Miyo, born to nobility, who endures an oppressive stepmother and weds the heartless soldier Kiyoka. Amidst a tumultuous start, Miyo warms to her pale betrothed, envisioning a shot at true love and joy, devoid of a haven. Rito Kohsaka’s manga rendition debuted on Square Enix’s Gangan Online in December 2018. English versions of the manga, both physical and digital, are published by Square Enix Manga & Books.

March 17 saw the release of a live-action film adaptation, which swiftly seized the top spot, amassing 479,700 tickets and 654 million yen (approx. US$4.97 million) within its opening three days. Furthermore, an upcoming stage play in August further extends the influence of the novels.
