HIDIVE Offers My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered Anime Streaming

HIDIVE has just announced its streaming plans for the upcoming winter 2024 season, set to feature the television anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi Fujitaka’s light novel series, “My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered.”

Additionally, fans can catch the North American premiere of this anime at the Anime NYC event on November 17 this year, with the official anime premiere scheduled for January 2024.

The anime will be brought to life under the direction of Masakazu Hishida, known for their work on projects like “Fairy Ranmaru” and “KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm,” at the animation studio Okuru to Noboru. Jou Aoba, using the pen name Hishida, will be handling the series scripts.

The character design duties will be helmed by Sayuri Sakimoto, recognized for their work on “Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki OAV 5/2020.” The anime’s music will be composed by a talented team, including Hanae Nakamura, Tatsuhiko Saiki, Kanade Sakuma, and Daisuke Kadowaki.

For those unfamiliar with the story, the light novel series is available in English through J-Novel Club and follows Yogiri Takatou. He awakens during a school trip to utter chaos and mayhem, discovering that his entire class has been transported to another world. To make matters worse, he slept through the mysterious Sage’s bestowal of powers to his classmates.

Abandoned by their friends as bait for a nearby dragon, Yogiri, a lowly Level 1000 monster, must reluctantly protect his only companion. Fortunately, he possesses a secret power—the ability to invoke Instant Death with a single thought. Now, if he can stay awake long enough to utilize it…

Originally, Fujitaka unveiled the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2016 before Earth Star Entertainment started publishing it with illustrations by Chisato Naruse.

A manga adaptation, titled “My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered —AΩ—,” has been serialized by Hanamaru Nanto on the Comic Earth Star service since 2018. English readers can also enjoy the manga through J-Novel Club.
