Crunchyroll’s depiction of the second season of “High Card” unfolds as follows:

In the wake of discovering his orphanage’s imminent closure due to financial strains, Finn, who previously roamed the streets as a free spirit, embarks on a casino-bound journey with hopes of amassing a fortune. Little did he know that a chilling ordeal awaited him. Amidst his casino visit, Finn is thrust into a heart-pounding car chase and a bloody shootout, all stemming from a man’s seemingly “fortunate” card.

As the story unfolds, Finn delves deeper into the truth behind the shootout. A startling revelation surfaces – the world’s very fabric can be manipulated by a complete deck of 52 X-Playing cards, each possessing the potential to grant extraordinary superhuman abilities to its bearer. These cards serve as gateways to unlocking the latent power within, termed the “buddy.”

Stealthily operating behind the scenes is a clandestine faction of players known as High Card, individuals personally commissioned by the king of Fourland to retrieve the scattered cards strewn across the kingdom. These skilled individuals, all while moonlighting as employees of the esteemed luxury car manufacturer Pinochle, make it their mission to gather the coveted cards. Among them, Finn is sought to become the fifth member, thrusting him into a perilous odyssey to secure these precious artifacts.

The adage rings true: “Life’s essentials encompass etiquette, integrity, and the determination to wager one’s very existence.”

However, formidable obstacles loom on the horizon. The arch-rival car manufacturer Who’s Who, driven by an unrelenting ambition to outshine Pinochle, and the notorious Klondikes, a mafia syndicate of repute, pose as formidable adversaries standing in High Card’s path.
