In Another World With My Smartphone – Anime Review

(Last Updated On: November 20, 2020)

Hey, guys welcome back to Animeindia. and today I am going to review the very popular harem anime In Another World With My Smartphone. I completed it recently as it has only one season of 12 episodes as of now. I don’t do spoiler-free stuff so it will have a lot many spoilers related to the story without any further ado let’s begin!

One more thing before I read its manga, I also dreamed of going to another world where I can use my smartphone. It’s just to let you know that I could also write a novel 🤩 someday.

About In Another World With My Smartphone

In Another World With My Smartphone (異 世界 は ス マ ー ト フ ォ ン と と も に, Isekai wa Sumātofon to Tomo ni) is a series of Japanese light novels written by Patora Fuyuhara and illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka. It began serializing online in 2013 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō until it was acquired by Hobby Japan to publish the print edition as a light novel. J-Novel Club licensed the series for an English release, releasing each novel in six weekly parts since February 2017. A manga adaptation by Soto began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace in November 2016. The manga is licensed in English by Yen Press. . An anime television series adaptation by Production Reed aired from July to September 2017. The anime series is licensed by Crunchyroll.

Plot Of In Another World With My Smartphone

So the basic story is the guy dies due to gods mistake, god feels bad for him and sends him to others world with his phone and he becomes chick magnet. 🤣😜 Ok Seriously!!

Fifteen-year-old Touya Mochizuki is accidentally killed by God. As an apology, God allows him to be resurrected, but since he cannot send him back to his old world, he reincarnates him in a fantasy world along with a single special request. Touya uses his request to bring his smartphone to the new world with him, which God modifies. As such, although Touya cannot contact his old world with him, the phone can be easily recharged by magic and can otherwise function as accessing old world data and can use functions relevant to his new world, such as the GPS function for locations that are fully identified on it.

God also greatly amplifies Touya’s physical, magical, and cognitive abilities to some extent as one more apology for the inconvenience of killing him. Making the most of his second chance at life, Touya befriends many different people, mainly women (its harem, what else he would do) and high-ranking people in the new world. He begins to travel from country to country, settling political disputes, minor missions, and casually amusing himself with his new allies.

Overwhelming Aspects

The anime is very easy going, and you know what’s going on and what will happen next. The main purpose of every action leads to Touya having a new bride. Touya as the protagonist is extremely overpowered, and it’s not a joke when I tell you that, seriously this guy casually calls the god as if god is his grandfather. The anime is full of fan service moments and you people will have nose bleeds. Touya is very intelligent and innocent at the same time. I really enjoyed his interacts with other girls in the story. The animation is pretty decent and the music is also good as the intro stays in your head for quite some time.

Underwhelming Aspects

The name of anime is “In Another World With My Smartphone” but the use of smartphone is way too less as the world is already very much developed as the mobile part could have been skipped and be replaced by any sort of magic power. The harem girls almost have the same character sketch just different origins. They really don’t add anything new to the story, Touya meets a new girl to save her or her loved ones, and then the girl has a crush on him, she eventually wants to stay with him and become his bride. Touya genuinely has a problem that is to handle this many girls. The last episode teased a total of 9 wives in total can you imagine that.

Conclusion

But honestly, these flaws don’t overshadow “In Another World With My Smartphone” anime’s qualities. I am just jealous of that guy (9 wives!!!), I am going to find a Truck-Kun (it’s a joke don’t take it seriously). The anime is really good and you should really watch this anime if you love the harem genre because romance logic doesn’t exist in harem anime, every girl wants a piece of that guy.

In Another World With My Smartphone anime is available on Netflix the series is only having one season of 12 episodes and no further update on sequel seasons by creators. The novel and manga have good material available to adapt to animation so it will happen eventually.
