On Thursday, Kadokawa unveiled exciting news regarding the highly anticipated television anime adaptation of Surgeon Elise (Gekai Elise), the captivating medical reincarnation fantasy web novels and vertical-scrolling manwha by Yuin (author) and Mini (illustrator).

The announcement included a January 2024 premiere date, along with a visually stunning key visual, a tantalizing teaser promotional video, and the announcement of the main cast.
The anime stars:
- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Graham
- Yōhei Azakami as Linden
- Yui Ishikawa as Elise
Kumiko Habara, the director of “I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss,” leads the anime production at Maho Film. Deko Akao, known for her work on “Komi Can’t Communicate,” skillfully handles the series composition. Yūko Watabe brings her talent to character design for the anime.

The captivating story revolves around Aoi Takamoto, previously known as the wicked empress Elise, who faced execution at the hands of her husband Linden. Reincarnated as Aoi in the modern world, she seeks redemption by dedicating herself to the noble profession of surgery. Tragically, a plane crash claims her life, only to revive her as Elise, ten years prior to her impending doom. Determined to rewrite her fate, she vows to avoid marrying Linden and utilizes her medical knowledge to pursue her calling as a physician once again.
The enthralling manwha was first launched on KakaoPage in 2017 by Yuin and Mini. Tappytoon, the publisher responsible for the English version titled “Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp,” brought this captivating tale to a wider audience. The series concluded in February 2021, spanning ten volumes for the manwha and an additional four volumes for the novels.
