The longevity of manga series often sparks debates among fans, and the recent Netflix adaptation of One Piece has rekindled discussions about the length of iconic titles. Surprisingly, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, with its 131 volumes and 957 chapters, surpasses One Piece in total page count.

This revelation has taken many fans aback, as One Piece is typically associated with being one of the longest-running manga series. However, statistics show that Hirohiko Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, which has been captivating readers for over 36 years, boasts an impressive 25,142 pages compared to One Piece’s 22,915.

The perception of One Piece as the lengthier series may stem from its higher chapter count. While One Piece encompasses a whopping 1,091 chapters, these are consolidated into 106 volumes. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, in contrast, presents fewer chapters, albeit each one is more extensive. This is due to the manga transitioning to a monthly release schedule in Ultra Jump starting from 2005.
Anime adaptations also contribute to this perception. One Piece boasts over 1000 episodes in its animated version, whereas JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure currently has 190 episodes, potentially leading anime enthusiasts to believe that One Piece is the more extensive series.
Moreover, the origin of these series plays a crucial role. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure made its debut in January 1987 in Weekly Shonen Jump, a decade ahead of One Piece’s launch in July 1997 within the same magazine.
For fans eager to delve into these rich narratives, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is readily available for streaming on Crunchyroll, Muse Asia, and Netflix.
