Jujutsu Kaisen Stage Play Returns In Dec For Round 2

On Monday, the official website for Gege Akutami’s manga-turned-stage-play, Jujutsu Kaisen, made a thrilling announcement. Fans can anticipate a second stage production set to run from December 2023 through January 2024 in both Hyogo and Tokyo.

This eagerly awaited play will skillfully adapt the gripping story arcs of the “Kyoto Goodwill Event” and “The Origin of Obedience.” Alongside this exciting revelation, the production team has unveiled an eye-catching visual, introducing the cast for this upcoming endeavor.

The stage play stars:

  • Nonoka Yamaguchi as Nobara Kugisaki
  • Ryōsuke Miura as Satoru Gojo
  • Ryūji Satō as Yūji Itadori
  • Sara Takatsuki as Maki Zenin
  • Kazuaki Yasue as Megumi Fushiguro
  • Takeshi Terayama as Panda
  • Fūma Sadamoto as Toge Inumaki
  • Yoshihiro Minami as Hanami

Stepping into the role of Nobara Kugisaki, Nonoka Yamaguchi will be taking over from Erika Toyohara, bringing her own unique flair to the character. The remainder of the cast will consist of the talented individuals who graced the stage in the first play, promising a continuation of the exceptional performances that captivated audiences before.

Kensaku Kobayashi returns to helm the play, working from a script penned by Kōhei Kiyasu. The inaugural production graced The Galaxy Theatre in Tokyo’s Tennōzu in July 2022, subsequently relocating to Mielparque Hall Osaka that August.

Akutami initiated the manga’s journey in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 2018, with Shueisha releasing the 23rd compiled book volume on July 4. Viz Media handles both digital and print publication, while Shueisha offers digital access through its MANGA Plus service.

The Jujutsu Kaisen TV anime premiered in October 2020, running for 24 captivating episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the anime worldwide, offering English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German dubs.

In Japan, the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 anime film debuted in December 2021, followed by an English-subtitled release in the U.S. and Canada in March 2022.

The second season kicked off on July 6, broadcasted on MBS, TBS, and 28 affiliated channels. Crunchyroll is simulcasting the second season across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, including an English dub.

This second season is slated for a two-cour run, covering the “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” (“Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu”) arc and the “Shibuya Incident” arc from Gege Akutami’s source material. The “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc ran from July 6 to August 3, with two compilation episodes airing on August 10 and 17. The “Shibuya Incident” arc commenced on August 31, promising an 18-episode journey.
