Arc System Works unveiled a fresh character trailer on Thursday for Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes, the latest entry in French Bread’s original 2D fighting game series, Under Night In-Birth. The trailer spotlights Kaguya, a novel playable character within the game.

Scheduled for release in 2024, this game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. It promises to conclude the gripping “Hollow Night” narrative that commenced with the original series. Gamers can expect a roster of 21 returning characters alongside intriguing newcomers.

The original Under Night In-Birth arcade game was developed by French Bread (known for Melty Blood) and initially hit Japanese arcades in 2012. It received an updated version titled Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late in 2013. Japan saw a PS3 port of Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late in 2014, while North America got its release from Aksys Games in February 2015. Sadly, the original game never saw a release outside of arcades.
The follow-up, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], launched in Japanese arcades in July 2015, followed by PS3 and PS4 releases in Japan in July 2017. Aksys Games brought it to North America for the PS4 and PS Vita in February 2018, and PQube Games followed suit in Europe on the same day. PC gamers got their turn in August 2018 with a Steam release. The next iteration, Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[cl-r], landed on PS4 and Switch in February 2020 and reached PC via Steam in March 2020.

French Bread, the developer behind Melty Blood: Type Lumina, a 2D fighting game based on characters from Type-Moon’s Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- remake visual novel, released the game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in September 2021. The game has since introduced DLC characters, with the most recent additions being Ushiwakamaru and The Count of Monte Cristo from Fate/Grand Order.
