Square Enix made a big announcement on Tuesday that Maybe’s popular manga, Tales of Wedding Rings, will be getting a television anime adaptation. The anime will star Gen Sato as Satou and Akari Kitō as Hime, and will be directed by Maybe themselves. To commemorate the announcement, Maybe also drew an illustration that was released alongside the news.

The manga series, Tales of Wedding Rings, was first launched in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine in March 2014. The 13th volume of the manga will be published by Square Enix on January 25th. The manga is also being published in English by Yen Press, and the 11th volume was released on September 20th. Crunchyroll is also publishing the manga digitally in English.

The story of Tales of Wedding Rings follows Sato, a young man who, after his childhood friend Hime suddenly says goodbye, chases after her and finds himself in a fantasy world. There, he marries Hime and becomes the legendary hero, the Ring King. The manga is a romantic comedy that takes place in a fantasy world, and is written and illustrated by Maybe. The creator duo is known for their completed Dusk maiden of Amnesia manga which inspired a television anime in 2012 and To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts (Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e) manga that inspired a television anime in July 2019. Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English.
