On Saturday, the official website and Twitter account of MAGES unveiled exciting news for fans of the Memories Off visual novel franchise. They announced the development of a new title, “Memories Off Sōsō Not always true,” in celebration of the franchise’s upcoming 25th anniversary next year.

The staff’s message highlighted that Saturday marked the 24th anniversary of the very first Memories Off release.

Mutsumi Sasaki, known for their work on “Chaos;HEAd” and “Happy Lesson,” will return to design the characters, just as they did for the franchise’s initial two titles.
Naotaka Hayashi, associated with the 4th and 5th Memories Off titles, as well as novels and original video anime scripts like “Steins;Gate,” will be crafting the scenario. Takeshi Abo, renowned for his contributions to the previous entries and “Steins;Gate,” will once again handle the soundtrack.

The original Memories Off romance visual novel was created by KID and debuted on the PlayStation in 1999. In 2006, KID faced bankruptcy, leading to the series’ development being taken over by CyberFront. Subsequently, 5pb. acquired the rights to the game series from CyberFront in 2007, and in 2011, 5pb. merged with several other companies under the parent company MAGES.
The most recent main installment in the series is “Memories Off -Innocent Fille-,” released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC via Steam in Japan in March 2018.
Additionally, the game series has inspired five original video anime (OVA) projects, with the latest OVA, “Memories Off #5 Togireta Film,” debuting in 2006.As a spinoff, the game “SINce Memories: Off the starry sky” was introduced for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on September 16, 2021, followed by a Windows release on December 16, 2021.

Notably, the announcement of the new title on Saturday emphasized that the 2018 release “Memories Off -Innocent Fille-” was initially marketed as the “final” entry in the franchise.
