On Monday, MOVIC made an exciting announcement: the Hana-Doll* 2.5D idol project will soon come to life as an anime called Hana-Doll*: Reinterpretation of Flowering.

Hana-Doll*Flowering Boys were still in a dream, a manga belonging to the franchise, made its debut in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge in November 2020.

The story revolves around the “Hana Ningyō Project” (Flower Doll Project), an endeavor aimed at artificially creating the ultimate idol by implanting a unique flower seed within a human body. This franchise portrays the personal growth of young men who devote their lives to this project.

At present, the franchise showcases two groups: Anthos, a seven-member all-male group, and Louloudi, a three-member all-male group. Alongside music, the franchise also offers drama CDs and merchandise. The initial drama CD, containing two songs, was released in June 2019. These drama CDs provide intellectually stimulating content with a focus on investigative elements.
The upcoming anime adaptation will cover the “Flowering” arc, which serves as the first season of the drama CD series. Currently, the franchise is in its third season of drama CDs.
