Shironeko Project: Zero Chronicle made its debut in Japan on AT-X in April 2020, while Muse Asia streamed the anime in India on March 19 of the same year. Masato Jinbo, known for works like Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei! and Chaos;Child, took on the roles of both writer and director for the anime, which was produced by project No.9 (recognized for The Ryuo’s Work Is Never Done!).
Yousuke Okuda, the animation director of Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale and Is the order a rabbit?, handled the character designs. Taku Iwasaki, celebrated for his work on Bungo Stray Dogs, composed the music. The anime’s executive producer was Hiroki Asai from Colopl, the franchise’s parent company, while the game’s director Ryōji Tsunoda served as the anime’s supervisor.
Colopl’s Shironeko Project initially launched as a smartphone game in Japan back in 2014 and later expanded to an English version titled Rune Story in 2015. However, the English version ceased receiving updates in 2016. This 3D action RPG boasts real-time battles, allowing players to form groups of four and confront adversaries together. Notably, city building is a prominent gameplay element that directly influences the growth of players’ characters.
