My Hero Academia Manga on Hold Again Due to Author’s Health Concerns

(Last Updated On: June 1, 2023)

My Hero Academia fans have been eagerly following the final arc of the series, craving more of the action-packed storyline. Unfortunately, their excitement has been dampened as news spreads that the manga will once again be put on hold. The reason behind this hiatus is the health concerns of Horikoshi Kohei, the talented author of the series.

My Hero Academia Manga’s Repeated Breaks Have Fans Worried About the Author’s Health

Creating manga is no easy task, and the demanding workload often takes a toll on the well-being of mangakas. Horikoshi’s situation is no exception. Over the years, he has faced several breaks due to his health, showcasing the challenges faced by creators in the industry. In March, he had to delay a chapter for two weeks, and prior to that, he took breaks in December 2022 and February 2023.

The upcoming chapter 390 of My Hero Academia is scheduled for release on June 5, but fans will have to wait longer for the next chapter. Horikoshi will be taking a week off, pushing back the release of chapter 391 to June 19, a delay that has left fans disappointed yet understanding of the author’s situation.

Despite these setbacks, Horikoshi remains dedicated to his work and has expressed his determination to push through until the end. Fans are sympathetic towards his difficult position and are concerned about his well-being. The toll of continuously working on the series for eight years is starting to show, but the quality of his work has not wavered. In fact, the current arc is being hailed as one of the best in My Hero Academia.

While the frequent breaks may disappoint some fans, it is crucial to prioritize Horikoshi’s health. It ensures that he can continue to deliver more chapters and ultimately reach the series’ conclusion. The manga industry has learned from past experiences, such as the extended hiatus of Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator of the popular manga Hunter X Hunter, who faced significant health issues.

Although the news of another hiatus is disheartening, fans are hopeful for Horikoshi’s recovery and eagerly anticipate the continuation of My Hero Academia. It serves as a reminder that the well-being of mangakas should be valued, allowing them to create and share their stories without sacrificing their health.
