Leading anime and manga community, MyAnimeList (MAL), has unveiled an innovative extension to their biannual Fantasy Anime League (FAL) – an all-season format. This highly-anticipated change allows anime enthusiasts to engage in this novel and engaging experience throughout the year. Starting today, the platform will begin accepting entries for the upcoming summer season.
Since its introduction in 2008, the FAL has been compared to fantasy sports leagues, allowing players worldwide to forecast the popularity of anime series during specific seasons. With its new format, fans will now be able to enjoy this unique gaming experience all year round, not limited to specific anime seasons.

The FAL is a distinctive simulation game hosted by MyAnimeList. Players select and compete with anime titles rather than traditional athletes, adding an exciting twist to the fantasy sports model. To succeed, participants must skillfully use insights, predictive abilities, and analytical skills to assemble a team of eight anime titles. The goal is to earn the highest number of points over a 13-week season, based on ratings provided by the registered users on MyAnimeList.

In 2021, the Fantasy Anime League underwent systematization, transforming from a forum-based game to a full-fledged event that caters to a wider user base. Points are calculated weekly, utilizing MyAnimeList user activity data, including viewership numbers, the number of forum discussions, ratings, and the number of favorites. The game has already sparked vibrant discussions among MyAnimeList clubs and on Discord, enhancing the community’s overall experience.
To participate, fans can register for the summer season at FAL’s official page.
MyAnimeList is among the world’s largest anime and manga communities, featuring comprehensive databases maintained by its passionate user base. The platform enables members to track their viewing progress, rate and discuss titles, write reviews, and discover new works through various community-driven features. As of April 2021, MyAnimeList boasted over 18 million monthly active users from more than 240 different countries, making it a pivotal resource for the international anime and manga community.
In light of the exciting changes to the Fantasy Anime League, MAL invites all anime fans to engage in this captivating and unique gaming experience, blending the love for anime with the thrill of fantasy sports. Don’t miss out on the chance to immerse yourself in the world of anime like never before!
