Last June, Netflix worldwide, including India, debuted the initial 13 episodes of BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-. The second part, featuring episodes 14-24, premiered on Netflix on September 15.
Hagiwara launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1988. The series later had sporadic serialization in the magazine and Ultra Jump starting in 2001. In March 2012, Shueisha published the manga’s 27th compiled volume, and it boasts over 30 million copies in circulation. Viz Media released the manga in English but halted publication after the 19th volume. Regrettably, the 20th volume’s English release faced cancellation.

The manga’s popularity inspired a six-episode original video anime (OVA) in 1992-1993. Geneon Entertainment (also known as Pioneer) handled the anime’s home video release.
