During Crunchyroll’s industry panel at Anime Expo on July 3, Rakuten producer Tatsuya Manago made an exciting announcement. Starting from July 4, Crunchyroll will stream the first seven episodes of the Me & Roboco (Boku to Roboko) manga’s television anime adaptation. Subsequently, Crunchyroll will release a new episode of the series each week.

The television anime premiered on December 4 on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels, with each episode running for five minutes. Furthermore, fans can look forward to a film adaptation of the anime, set to debut in winter 2024.

Studio Gallop is responsible for animating the series, under the direction of Akitarō Daichi (known for his work on 2001’s Fruits Basket, Ninja Girl & Samurai Master, and Kodocha).

The talented team also includes Michihiro Sato as the assistant director, Sayuri Ooba overseeing the series scripts, Yūko Ebara designing the characters, and Yoshihiro Sato handling prop design. Manami Koyama serves as the art director, Ayami Minowa as the color key designer, Rena Tanimoto as the director of photography, Masafumi Kajino as the editor, and Kazuya Tanaka as the sound director. Additionally, the theme song titled “lol” is performed by Gang Parade.
English-speaking fans can enjoy the manga through Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service and Viz Media, both of which digitally publish it simultaneously with the Japanese release. Viz Media also began releasing compiled volumes of the manga digitally in October 2021. The story, as described by Viz Media, takes place in a world where most families own adorable maid robots. Young Bondo, an average elementary school student, yearns for one of his own. However, when a peculiar and eccentric robot arrives, Bondo’s expectations are surpassed.
Shūhei Miyazaki debuted the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2020, captivating readers with its unique premise and delightful characters.
