New Manga by Lovely Muco’s Creator Explores Life as a Cat Owner

Manga artist Takayuki Mizushina has unveiled a fresh manga series called “Tsukitate! Omo-chan” on Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Online manga platform.

The narrative revolves around a young girl named An, who yearns for a pet cat or dog, though she doubts her family’s approval. An unexpected encounter with a stray cat in dire straits, following advice from a monk about wishing at a temple, sets the stage for her journey.

Mizushina initiated “Kiri Moya Biyori” (Clear Skies for Kiri and Moya) in Kodansha’s Evening magazine in July 2021. The manga recently concluded with its fifth compiled volume hitting shelves on April 21.

Previously, Mizushina wrapped up the beloved “Itoshi no Muco” (Lovely Muco!) manga in 2020. This series, which initially premiered in 2011 in Evening magazine, was succeeded by a new installment titled “Daisuki! Itoshi no Muco,” which debuted on Kodansha’s Comic Days app on September 10 last month.

“Itoshi no Muco” served as the inspiration for the “Lovely Movie: Itoshi no Muco” anime shorts, spanning three seasons on Fuji TV. The first season comprised 21 episodes, running from July to December 2013, followed by the second season with 22 episodes from April to October 2014, and the third season boasting 25 episodes from October 2015 to March 2016.

Crunchyroll streamed the third season concurrently with its Japanese broadcast. Takenori Mihara directed the first two seasons under the Doga Kobo studio.
