The official website for the anime adaptation of Ichika Isshiki and fame’s light novel series “Berserk of Gluttony” (Bōshoku no Berserk: Ore Dake Level to Iu Gainen wo Toppa Suru) streamed the primary promotional video for the show on Thursday. The video unveiled new cast members and introduced the opening theme, “Jekyll & Hyde,” performed by EverdreaM.
EverdreaM, a duo composed of voice actresses Matsuoka and Sekine, will also lend their talents to the ending theme, titled “Ao no Genseki.” The highly anticipated anime is set to make its debut in Japan this coming October, with Crunchyroll exclusively streaming the series globally, except in Asia and India.
Overseeing the anime’s direction at ACGT is Tetsuya Yanagisawa (known for works like High School DxD and Orient), while Mariko Kunisawa (recognized for contributions to Ascendance of a Bookworm and Orient) is taking charge of supervising the series scripts. Character design responsibilities rest with Takafumi Furusawa.
The anime stars:
- Hisako Tōjō as Roxy
- Ryota Ohsaka as Fate Graphite
- Tomokazu Seki as the black sword Greed
Notably, Seven Seas Entertainment has taken up the task of publishing both the novel series and its manga adaptation in English. The narrative revolves around Fate Graphite, burdened with the accursed skill “Gluttony,” which keeps him in a constant state of hunger.
A fateful encounter leads him to devour a dying thief’s strength and soul, awakening the true potential of his Gluttony. Fate’s journey is one of mastering this power to seize control of his destiny.
Isshiki’s tale originally debuted on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform, later seeing its light novel inception in November 2017, featuring illustrations by fame. The series has since seen a successful run, with the eighth volume hitting shelves in October 2022.
English-speaking fans have been able to enjoy the seventh volume since October 2022 courtesy of Seven Seas. The novels are also being released in a larger bunko format by Micro Magazine, with the seventh volume scheduled for September 20 following the October 2021 release of the first bunko volume.
The manga adaptation, overseen by Daisuke Takino, first graced Micro Magazine’s Comic Ride website in April 2018. The recent release of the tenth compiled volume in Japan on April 27 marks a milestone.
