Netflix has announced that the anime adaptation of George Morikawa’s popular manga series, Hajime no Ippo, will be available for streaming in India on January 1st. The series follows the story of Ippo Makunouchi, a young man who is rescued from bullies by professional boxer Mamoru Takamura and is inspired to take up the sport himself.

Hajime no Ippo has been a long-running manga series, with 136 volumes published to date. The series has also been adapted into several successful anime series, including the original television adaptation that aired in 2000, and two sequels, Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger (2009) and Hajime no Ippo Rising (2013). The series has also inspired several original video anime releases, including Hajime no Ippo – Champion Road (2003) and Hajime no Ippo – Mashiba vs. Kimura (2003).
